Fithack — An AI Wellness Operating System for Measurable Progress

we designed an AI-powered wellness platform that unifies sleep, stress, habits, and relationships into one coherent system. the goal was measurable, sustainable progress without the noise of typical health apps.

the problem

the wellness app market is full of products that track everything and change nothing. users log their sleep, their steps, their mood. they get graphs. and they stop opening the app after two weeks.

fithack's founder had a different thesis: most wellness apps fail because they treat symptoms in isolation. you can't fix sleep without understanding stress. you can't fix habits without understanding relationships. the whole system needs to be visible at once.

the challenge was designing a product that delivered that system-level view without overwhelming the user.

what we found in discovery

during the sprint discovery week, we ran sessions with the founder and early users to map the real patterns:

  • users have 3 to 5 wellness apps open on their phone at any given time
  • they don't lack data. they lack interpretation
  • the most motivated users still churn because progress feels invisible
  • the emotional trigger for staying engaged is a feeling of connection between behaviors, not achievement in a single metric

the core insight: people don't need more tracking. they need to see how their behaviors are connected. fithack's job was to be the layer that made the connections visible.

the AI layer

the most complex design problem was surfacing AI recommendations without making the product feel clinical or condescending. we spent a full design week on just the recommendation UI.

the solution was a coaching layer that speaks in observations, not prescriptions. instead of "you should sleep 8 hours," fithack says "your focus scores drop 40% after nights under 6 hours." the user draws their own conclusion.

this required designing:

  • a natural language insight component that reads like a message from a coach
  • a correlation view showing behavior linkages across domains
  • a weekly rhythm report that replaces daily nudges

the design system

fithack needed a visual system that felt scientific but warm. we built a component library around:

  • a deep navy base with bio-luminescent accent colors (lime, violet, teal)
  • data visualization components designed for dense mobile screens
  • a type scale optimized for numbers and short insight strings

handoff

the sprint produced a fully interactive prototype covering onboarding, the daily check-in flow, the correlation dashboard, and the AI coaching feed. the developer handoff kit included annotated specs for every component, the full Figma design system, and a written product decision log explaining the reasoning behind key UX choices.

the engineering team picked it up and shipped the private beta in 11 weeks.
